    The head depicted in the profile was part of a figure of a Persian nobleman. The sitter wears a feather crown, underneath which the hair curls and spirals in on the forehead and side. Relief representations of dignitaries adorned the monumental staircase of the reception hall of the royal palace in Persepolis.
