    Netherlands. PHs van Ommeren NV, 1986 Odd Shrs Specimen ADR Cert., XF ABN Blue. In 1839, shipping company Van Ommeren was established in Rotterdam as a shipping agent and forwarder as Stoomvaart Maatschappij 'De Maas' . In the following years, the activities were expanded to maritime shipping, inland shipping , tank storage, stevedoring activities and distribution centers.In 1922 the company was converted into a limited company NV Phs. van Ommeren's Shipping Company by Philip van Ommeren. On the occasion of its centenary, the shipping company donated the Hofplein fountain to the city of Rotterdam in 1939 . The fountain would be placed on the Droogleever Fortuynplein, on the north side of the Maastunnel, but was placed on the Hofplein after the Second World War . The fountain is also known as the 'Flip Spuit', referring to Philippus "Flip" van Ommeren (1900-1994). At the end of the seventies of the twentieth century, investments began in trading companies because the results of shipping varied greatly. In the early nineties, two core activities were chosen: shipping and tank storage. The other tasks were disposed of. In 1999 Van Ommeren merged with the company Pakhoed and the shipping company was renamed Vopak.
