    Description

    Description
This is a curious iron-alloy metal sculpture with some puzzling properties.  At first glance, it appears to be bronze with green verdigris.  However, the apsara and its stand is magnetic and has to be an iron alloy. The entire statue appears to have been completely covered in ceramic at one time and chipped off at some later date.  Gold leaf has been applied to the metal AND to the ceramic over the entire statue and base which is now mostly worn off.  The overall statue appearance is very pleasing and makes a nice statement and has a pretty cool presence.
An apsara is a type of supernatural female spirit of the clouds and waters in Hindu and Buddhist cultures. They figure prominently in the sculpture, dance, literature and painting of many South Asian and Southeast Asian cultures.
