Vintage Saudi Arabia Brass Ornate Tea Set Beautiful Gemstones Royal Family Gift. Condition is Used. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
I went to a yard sale and a cute British Couple, in their 80s we're hosting it. I asked about this tea set and was told, in the 1960s he trained self defense in Saudi Arabia, for the military and the security staff for the Royal Family. When his tour of duty was over, this was a gift from the Crown Prince, who later became King. That's a fantastic story, but I believe the guy.  This elderly gentleman love to talk and bent my ear for over 20 minutes. I loved every minute of it, he has lots of fantastic stories.
The copper or brass tray measures, 10" in diameter. The cups measure 2½" tall.  The diameter at the top of the cups measures about 1⅜", each cup is slightly different in size, ranging about 1/16th of an inch.  The bottom diameter is about 1¼" across.  The tray and the cups were formed by a process called spinning. You can see the lines from the spinning lathe.  The teapot or the decanter measures about 6½ inches tall, and about 5" across.  The opening at the top measures about 1⅜", the bottom diameter is about 2".  The neck and the base of the decanter were spun. The body I don't know how it was made.  I can see the forming marks, it wasn't hammered or spun.  The whole thing is adorned with semi precious gemstones.  If I were to hazard a guess, some are turquoise, some are red coral and there's a third stone on the tray.  I don't know what it is, it looks black, might be black onyx.  This tea set is missing one stone on one cup.  It looks to be a red coral stone.  I'm not an expert on gemstones, so I'm just guessing here.
